Water Conservation Update - We Need Your Help!
The City of Sierra Madre continues to fall short in meeting State-mandated water conservation goals. According to the latest figures issued by the City’s Public Works Department, there is a severe gap between the State-mandated 32% cumulative conservation goal and the City’s actual rate of 21.5%. Helping residents work together to correct this shortfall is a primary concern for City Council.
While the Council considers additional water conservation measures, the City will continue its efforts to help residents stay on target. As we head into the winter months, the Public Works Department would like to remind customers that winter water conservation targets will be applied to their upcoming utility bills; winter target numbers are often lower than summer targets and call for increased conservation. The Utility Billing Chart found here should serve as a guide to understanding the seasonal dates applied to consumption readings.
