Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament 2013, Press Release

The competition is heating up in Sierra Madre for the 9th Annual Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament on Saturday, October 19, 2013. This fundraiser benefits the Youth Activity Center through which the YMCA provides quality programs and services for youth and teens in Sierra Madre and the surrounding communities.

The golf tournament will be played at the nine-hole Eaton Canyon Golf Course as a foursome, best-ball format with an 8:00 a.m. start time and assigned tee times. The “Best Ball” format makes this event fun for all skill levels!  Golfers can sign up as a team or as an individual with individuals assigned to a team. The top team receives individual trophies and immortality on the Oktoberfest Golf Tournament perpetual trophy. NEW THIS YEAR – All Par 3’s have Hole-In-One Mega Prizes!  Win a Car, Cash, or Dream Vacation!  Also, take a chance in the Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Putting contests. For those concerned with their swing, Mulligans are available to ensure a better score. Golf tournament fees are $86.00 per person or $304.00 per team of four (goodie bag and lunch included for both).

The tennis tournament will also start at 8:00 a.m. and will be held at the Memorial Park and Sierra Vista Park tennis courts. All ages and skill levels are welcome! The tournament will be split into two divisions and played as round robin doubles with rotating co-ed partners. The first and second place winners in each division receive a trophy and the first place winners will have their name engraved on the Oktoberfest Tennis Tournament perpetual trophy. Show off your skills prior to the tournament by participating in the serving contest; prizes provided by Rackets Racquets. Tennis tournament fees are $62.00 per person (goodie bag and lunch included).

Following the tournaments is a reception and awards ceremony at the Hart Park House Senior Center, located at 222 W. Lunch includes bratwurst, chicken, various sides, and dessert, as well as beers on tap.
