Pasadena Humane Society to License Sierra Madre Dogs

At the June 12, 2012 City Council meeting, the Sierra Madre City Council unanimously approved a contract expanding the services the Pasadena Humane Society provides for the residents in Sierra Madre. Under the new contract, the Pasadena Humane Society will take over the dog licensing program in addition to the existing animal control services beginning July 1, 2012.

Artist Reception & Exhibition

The City of Sierra Madre Community Services Commission and Arts Advisory Committee is pleased to present an art exhibition by Celeste Mendelsohn. Her art work is now on display through Friday, August 3rd in Sierra Madre City Hall, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.

Protecting Yourself from the West Nile Virus

This week the City was notified by the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District that a dead crow testing positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) was found in Sierra Madre. However, the District emphasized that does not mean the virus was contracted in Sierra Madre.

Rotary Children's Library Opening

Join us for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the beautiful new Rotary Children’s Library on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the Sierra Madre Public Library.

Improvements include the removal of an emergency exit, replacement of windows, bookshelves, furniture, paint and carpet. The layout of the room has been changed to create a preschool zone, study zone and computer /technology zone. Funding for the updates came from private donations raised during a year-long fundraising drive. The ribbon-cutting will take place just in time for the Summer Reading Program which starts on June 18. The Library is located at 440 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024 (626) 355-7186.

July 4th Grand Marshals Chosen for 2012

The volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is excited to announce that the 2012 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal will be Nel and Bob Solt, the Wistaria Vine Owners. “The Grand Marshal is a person’s whose efforts over a long period of time has been beneficial to the community of Sierra Madre. The title of Grand Marshal is intended to honor a person’s volume of work, dedication and overall enhancements to our city.”
