Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout

Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout
Posted on 02/09/2017

The fishing frenzy in Sierra Madre, CA is about to begin with the annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout happening March 24-26, 2017. This long standing Sierra Madre tradition began 40+ years ago with a one day fishing derby, but over the years has grown into a weekend event that includes a camp out, derby and family fishing. For many families, this event is a rite of passage and one they return to year after year.

For many of the youth- ages 3-15- who partake in the event, this is their first time camping and catching a fish. If you can remember your first catch or first night under the stars you might remember the awe and triumph you felt. This strong sense of tradition stems from the overall objective of the program which is to offer local youth and their families the opportunity to participate in an outdoor fishing experience without having to travel far from home.
