Community Services

The Community & Personnel Services Department is entrusted to "Create A Healthy Community Through People, Parks and Programs" and consists of six full-time employees and between twelve and fifty part-time employees depending on the season. Additionally, the Department utilizes the services of contract instructors for special interest classes and benefits from the numerous hours that many volunteers donate to the Department.

2012 Fourth of July Grand Marshals Chosen

The volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is excited to announce that the 2012 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal will be Nel and Bob Solt, the Wistaria Vine Owners. “The Grand Marshal is a person’s whose efforts over a long period of time has been beneficial to the community of Sierra Madre. The title of Grand Marshal is intended to honor a person’s volume of work, dedication and overall enhancements to our city.”

2012 Older Sierra Madre Americans of the Year, Chosen

The City of Sierra Madre Community & Personnel Services Department and the Senior Community Commission is happy to announce that Jerry and Nan Carlton have been selected as the Older Americans of the Year for Sierra Madre 2012. Jerry and Nan are longtime residents, active members of the Sierra Madre Friends of the Library, Mt. Wilson Trail Race and Wine & Jazz Walk volunteers, past Sierra Madre Athletic Association Board members, strong supporters of the Sierra Madre Civic Club & Senior Lunch Program and much, much more.

Volunteers Wanted for the Fourth of July Committee

The Sierra Madre Fourth of July Committee is looking for motivated, enthusiastic, creative, and friendly volunteers to serve on the committee as a member or a Co-Chair. The committee seeks volunteers to assist with various tasks to help with the parade and festivities. Join in the fun of hosting Sierra Madre’s favorite hometown tradition!

Aquatics

The City is excited to announce a new partnership at the Sierra Madre Aquatic Center. Aquatic services will be operated by Waterworks Aquatics beginning June 9, 2012. Waterworks Aquatics has extensive experience providing quality aquatic programs. Aquatic programs will be expanded to encompass 12 months a year, offering a full schedule of swim classes, water aerobics, recreation swim, swim team and much more!
