SUMMER DAY CAMP

Kindergarten – 10 years

During the winter, spring and summer breaks the Sierra Madre and Norma Coombs YMCA Child Care programs transform into a full day program for your child. Activities vary throughout the day and week based on themes and weekly field trips.

Times: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

SUMMER TEEN CAMP - AGES 11 – 17

Teen Camp runs the gamut from rambunctious fun to reflective conversations lead by an energetic, caring team of staff, providing teens with the building blocks to thrive and be successful while having incredible experiences.

Times: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday

2012 Window Painting Winners

The 2012 Halloween Window Painting Contest took place this past weekend on Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27. 30 teams competed in 4 different age groups with 90 youth participating this year! Awards were given to the top three finishers in each age category.

Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament, 10-20-2012

The competition is about to begin in Sierra Madre with the 8th Annual Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Sierra Madre Community Programs are the beneficiary of this City sponsored event, with programs like Movies in the Park, Summer Fun in the Park, Huck Finn Fishing Derby, Halloween Window Painting, and the Sierra Madre Historic Bike Ride receiving support.

Summer Family Movie Fridays 2012

Thanks to generous donations from the Sierra Madre Police Association and the Sierra Madre Community through outreach by Bob Jackson, the Family Movie Fridays series continues this summer! All movies are shown in Kersting Court and are absolutely free for everyone. Movies begin approximately at 8:00pm and patrons are encouraged to bring seating and blankets for the event.

Fourth of July Grand Marshals Chosen

The volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is excited to announce that the 2012 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal will be Nel and Bob Solt, the Wistaria Vine Owners. “The Grand Marshal is a person’s whose efforts over a long period of time has been beneficial to the community of Sierra Madre. The title of Grand Marshal is intended to honor a person’s volume of work, dedication and overall enhancements to our city.”

American Red Cross Holds Holiday Blood Drive in Sierra Madre

Save the date! Thursday, December 20th the Sierra Madre Community Services Department and American Red Cross is hosting a Community Blood Drive from 12 noon to 6:00 pm. This life saving event takes place at the Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., and is open to the public. Individuals who are 17 years of age or older, 110 pounds or more and are in generally good health are eligible to donate blood. As a thank you to all donors, the American Red Cross is providing Subway sandwiches plus a coupon from Cold Stone Creamery!

Health Fair and Wellness in the Park

Save the date! Saturday, September 22 is the Sierra Madre Health Fair and Wellness in the Park presented by the Senior Community Commission and Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place in Memorial Park, located at 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024 from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Concerts in the Park

Join the City of Sierra Madre this summer for the Concerts in the Park, beginning Sunday, July 8, 2012 and occurring every Sunday through August 26, 2012. The concerts are FREE thanks to the support of Athens Services and the Sierra Madre Issei Memorial Foundation, along with numerous community hosts.

Aquatics

The City is excited to announce a new partnership at the Sierra Madre Aquatic Center. Aquatic services will be operated by Waterworks Aquatics beginning June 9, 2012. Waterworks Aquatics has extensive experience providing quality aquatic programs. Aquatic programs will be expanded to encompass 12 months a year, offering a full schedule of swim classes, water aerobics, recreation swim, swim team and much more! Waterworks Aquatics will be hosting a follow up Meet and Greet on Saturday, July 28th from 12:00pm -1:00pm. The Meet and Greet will be held at the Sierra Madre Aquatic Center, located at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024. Waterworks Aquatic representatives will be on site to answer any questions you may have regarding swim lessons, program scheduling, and other aquatic related topics. This is a perfect opportunity to find out more about aquatic programs provided by Waterworks Aquatics and the changes they have made since their opening in June 2012.
