Thanks to generous donations from the Sierra Madre Police Association and the Sierra Madre Community through outreach by Bob Jackson, the Family Movie Fridays series continues this summer! All movies are shown in Kersting Court and are absolutely free for everyone. Movies begin approximately at 8:00pm and patrons are encouraged to bring seating and blankets for the event.
The City is excited to announce a new partnership at the Sierra Madre Aquatic Center. Aquatic services will be operated by Waterworks Aquatics beginning June 9, 2012. Waterworks Aquatics has extensive experience providing quality aquatic programs. Aquatic programs will be expanded to encompass 12 months a year, offering a full schedule of swim classes, water aerobics, recreation swim, swim team and much more! Waterworks Aquatics will be hosting a follow up Meet and Greet on Saturday, July 28th from 12:00pm -1:00pm. The Meet and Greet will be held at the Sierra Madre Aquatic Center, located at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024. Waterworks Aquatic representatives will be on site to answer any questions you may have regarding swim lessons, program scheduling, and other aquatic related topics. This is a perfect opportunity to find out more about aquatic programs provided by Waterworks Aquatics and the changes they have made since their opening in June 2012.

The Sierra Madre Fourth of July Committee is looking for motivated, enthusiastic, creative, and friendly volunteers to serve on the committee as a member or a Co-Chair. The committee seeks volunteers to assist with various tasks to help with the parade and festivities. Join in the fun of hosting Sierra Madre’s favorite hometown tradition!

The City of Sierra Madre Community & Personnel Services Department in collaboration with the Pasadena YMCA is assessing the need for afterschool programs. Currently, the YMCA operates afterschool programs for youth under 10 and the City operates programs for those 11-17.
The volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is excited to announce that the 2012 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal will be Nel and Bob Solt, the Wistaria Vine Owners. “The Grand Marshal is a person’s whose efforts over a long period of time has been beneficial to the community of Sierra Madre. The title of Grand Marshal is intended to honor a person’s volume of work, dedication and overall enhancements to our city.”
This past Saturday, May 26th, 2012 celebrated the 104th anniversary and 46th running of the Mount Wilson Trail Race. It was another successful year with great weather, stellar finishing times, and a lively crowd.

The City of Sierra Madre now has LIVE Meeting Coverage!!! Live internet streaming is available at http://sierramadre.kgem.tv on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm for Sierra Madre City Council Meetings. Sierra Madre Planning Commission Meetings are viewable live on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.
Call for Artists for Art Shows
In an effort to promote the professional development of local artists and their work, the Community Services Commission and Arts Advisory Committee features a rotation calendar of visual art shows at City Hall. Local artists are invited to submit samples of work for review and possible inclusion for future exhibits. Shows run for 6 to 8 weeks with a special reception. The exhibits may be viewed during business hours at Sierra Madre City Hall, 232 W.
