Save the date! Friday, November 8th the Sierra Madre Community Services Department and American Red Cross are hosting a Community Blood Drive from 10:00am to 4:00 pm. This life saving event takes place at the Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., and is open to the public.
The Community Services Department is hosting its annual Halloween Happenings on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Halloween Happenings’ activities include the downtown trick-o-treating sponsored by the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce, as well as the costume parade and costume contest, supported by the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club. All activities for the Sierra Madre Halloween Happenings are free!

The City of Sierra Madre Community Services Department hosts a monthly excursion to various places in Southern California. Hosted by the City of Sierra Madre Community Services Department and Senior Community Commission, Wellness in the Park brings together health and wellness related vendors, speakers and screenings to the Sierra Madre Community, specifically seniors. The event takes place on Saturday, September 21st from 9am to 12pm at Memorial Park, 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. It is in conjunction with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast which occurs from 7am to 11am; breakfast $5.00.

The Mount Wilson Trail Race (MWTR) is the second oldest trail race in California and is held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Every year 300 runners challenge the Mount Wilson Trail and race 8.6 miles on a course that features an elevation gain of 2,100 feet. This challenging race sells out every year, so be sure to register early!
On Saturday, October 19, 2013, take part in the 9th annual Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament which raises funds for the City of Sierra Madre’s Youth Activity Center (YAC) run by the YMCA. The YAC is a place for teens to hang out and socialize; through the YMCA it offers a wide variety of activities and amenities for immediate members, such as an educational speaker series, homework tutors, visual art classes, gardening, leadership roles with the elementary YMCA program and volunteer opportunities.
