The Sierra Madre Fire Department proudly protects those residing, working and visiting the City of Sierra Madre from its central location in downtown. The Department services a primarily residential area of 3.2 square miles with a wildland/urban interface to more than 11,000 residents.
Sierra Madre Lifesavers Paramedic Subscription Program is an official program offered by the City of Sierra Madre which offsets the cost of emergency medical responses.
The majority of the public education activities are directed towards children in the community. Public education programs are provided to the seven public and private schools in Sierra Madre. These programs consist of presentations at the fire station by the Prevention Bureau and Department members.
Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for safeguarding the community through adherence to fire regulations and hazard mitigation. Annual visits and fire safety inspections are conducted in businesses, apartment buildings, childcare facilities and schools, as well as annual inspections of existing business and apartment buildings.
The Fire Chief oversees the administrative functions, daily operations, and response capabilities of the Sierra Madre Fire Department. The Battalion Chiefs oversee fire prevention, training, personnel, and EMS training and quality assurance, as well as rotating the on duty battalion chief responsibilities. Fire Captains oversee crew training, station maintenance and equipment, and first in district pre-plans.
