Free eBooks @ the Sierra Madre Public Library
Why pay more—or anything at all—for eBooks when you can download and read hundreds of new and noteworthy books on your PC, Mac, laptop, tablet, smartphone, eReader, or other electronic device using OverDrive, Sierra Madre Library’s free eBook lending library. If you are among the thousands of people who received a Nook, Kindle, or other eReaders for the holidays, and would like to start taking advantage of OverDrive, the Library staff will help you create an account and show you how to request and download books onto your personal eReader.
Sierra Madre Librarian Retires
A retirement party on March 29 was attended by Sierra Madre Library staff, who celebrated Margaret Duran’s 46 years of service to the Library. At 82 years young, Margaret has been an active member of the community “for more years than she can remember.” In 2009 she received the prestigious Sierra Madre George Maurer Lifetime Service and Volunteer Award in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to the City.
Library Children's Room Remodel
Work will begin Monday, April 2 on renovations to the Sierra Madre Public Library Children’s Room. During the 6-week “makeover,” the Children’s Room will be closed. Children’s services will move temporarily into the adjacent Library Reference Room, with a limited collection of picture, fiction and non-fiction books available for checkout. One homework and two early literacy computers will be available for use. Preschool Story Times will continue as scheduled, but school class visits will be suspended during construction. The remodel is scheduled to be completed in time for the Summer Reading Program.
