Maisie Dobbs has been chosen as the Sierra Madre Public Library 2014 One Book One City choice and an appearance by the author Jacqueline Winspear will highlight a month of exciting free programs at the Library.
The Sierra Madre Public Library is pleased to partner with the local SPERO Foundation, a non-profit organization, to promote reading through the Read campaign. The Library is currently featuring the Foundation on posters and on bookmarks that are available at the Library.
The SPERO Foundation was established in 2008 by Heidi Hartman, Colleen McKernan, Linda Knowles, Susan Clifton and Kathy Childs.
Creativity and fun are in store when children gather at the Sierra Madre Public Library to create mini rose floats on Monday, December 23 at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome to storytime for stories, songs, play, and, of course, rose float making.

Children, you are invited to join Hogwarts at the Sierra Madre Library on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and be sorted into your houses, make your own wand and other charming crafts, taste some of the mysterious treats from the hugely captivating book series, and play thrilling games.
Beginning in January 2014, patrons of the Sierra Madre Public Library may choose to receive their overdue notices by e-mail instead of mailed print notices.

Teens interested in becoming a volunteer history docent can sign up in August at the Sierra Madre Public Library. Beginning in September 2013, five teens at a time will train and give tours during a five-week period using new Digital Storyboard technology at the Library’s Local History Room and at the Richardson House museum.
