"One Book One City" February Programs
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, is the City’s 2013 One Book One City selection this February and a month of exciting free programs for all ages, with a World War II theme, is being planned at the Sierra Madre Public Library. Please join us at the library for the following free programs:
- Children’s Airplane Flying Contest. Saturday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m.
- WWII Historian - Dan King. On Saturday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m.
- Book Discussion Monday evening, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. & Thursday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m.
- WWII Veterans Share Their Stories. On Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m.
- WWII Aircraft speaker from Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Picture Book Apps for iPads
How does a good parent sort out the good and the bad, the useful and harmful for their children in today’s electronic world? The Sierra Madre Public Library has an app for that! Several, actually.

Grant to Buy Books Received!
Good news for Sierra Madre. The Sierra Madre Public Library has just received $7,500 from the State of California to buy new books.

Rob Stockly, Vice Chair of Sierra Madre Library Board of Trustees shares his story about the Library's eReader workshops. He explains how easy it is to download free eBooks to his iPad or any eReader device from the Library's eBook collection.
2012 Fall READ™

This fall our local READ™ campaign features Garrett Newsom, Planning Principal of Sierra Madre Middle School and Esther Salinas, Principal of Sierra Madre Elementary School.
Parent/Child Workshops Slated for March
Registration is now open for popular Parent/Child workshop series, slated for March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April 3 at 6:30 pm at the Sierra Madre Public Library.
Sessions will take place at the Library on consecutive Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and will be interactive including toys, crafts, books and play in addition to discussions of parenting issues and concerns.
Children Celebrate Dr. Suess's Birthday at the Library
Children of all ages are invited to a special birthday party in honor of Dr. Seuss on his birthday, Saturday, March 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sierra Madre Public Library. Party participants will be treated to a very special Story time in honor of the famous author. All are invited to create party hats and paper birthday cake crafts and listen to some of Seuss’s most popular stories.
