About the City Treasurer's Office The City Treasurer is elected to a four-year term. Among the City Treasurer's responsibilities are developing an investment policy for adoption by the City Council, ensuring compliance with the investment policy as adopted, and reporting quarterly cash and investment activity to the City Council.
About George Enyedi
Mr. Enyedi is the senior partner in the CPA firm of Enyedi, Marshall & Montanez, located in Covina, California. He established his firm in Pasadena, in 1964. While in semi-retirement since 1993, he is busier than ever performing many volunteer functions. He was President of the Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP) from June of 1998 through July of 2001. In 1998 he was instrumental in initiating, designing and supervising the refurbishing of SMP, valued at over $150,000. Funding was obtained by donations from friends of SMP, Board Members, and donated labor and materials from Sierra Madre businessmen. Subsequently he was the moving force to further improve the SMP facilities. In July of 2000 he successfully negotiated the purchase of the SMP building. Since July of 2001 he is the vice President of SMP, in charge of finances, and a multitude of other activities.
Since 1993 through June of 2001, he volunteered his services every Monday to the City of Sierra Madre Finance Department, reconciling its bank accounts. In 1995 he became treasurer, of the Sierra Madre Pioneer Cemetery Association, a non-profit organization, established in 1884. Since that time he was instrumental in substantially improving the cemetery, including creation of cemetery plots with a potential market value of over $800,000. He is responsible for increasing the cemetery’s endowment fund balance from $ 240,000 to over $1,000,000 In July of 2001 he was elected president of the Association. He is also treasurer of the Sierra Madre Mountain Conservancy and the Sierra Madre Environmental Action Council. In April if 2008 he was elected as treasurer of the city of Sierra Madre. He was elected “Citizen of the Year” in December of 1999.
He and his beloved wife Gerda, who passed away in April of 2006, lived on Sunrise Hill in Sierra Madre since 1978, on a private road, housing four residencies, which they developed and built in 1977/78. Professional memberships include the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
