Sierra Madre has hosted many productions both film and television over the years including Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Fog, Testament, Great Man's Lady, Seven Little Foys, The Judds, Man's Best Friend, Drowning Mona, Executive Decision, St. Bilko, Ghosts of Mississippi, He-Man Masters of the Universe, Lethal Weapon 4, Wedding Singer, Better off Dead, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, A Walk in the Clouds, Princess Diaries, "V", "Dude, Where's my car?", Poison Ivy, Freddie Kruger Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5, The Lake, Legally Blonde and K-Pax.
Information on filming locations available in Sierra Madre can be obtained from the Film Coordinator of the library of the California Film Commission.
The City of Sierra Madre issues permits to businesses and individuals who wish to film on public or private property within the City. Filming activities include but are not limited to all on-site preparation (prep), filming and all breakdown (strike) activities. No film activities (including prep) may occur until a film permit has been issued. The City Manager or its designee has the discretion to impose additional conditions if warranted. Failure to comply with any of the stated conditions shall be grounds for revoking the permit.
The City's Film Coordinator is the primary contact for all production companies. The Film Coordinator or its representative will be present at all film locations. All inquires and complaints should be directed to the Film Coordinator. Concerns regarding the Film Coordinator should be directed to the City Manager or its designee.
