Senior Community

Mission Statement
The Senior Community Commission is responsible for defining the needs, locating and publicizing available resources, coordinating and initiating services and opportunities for the senior population of Sierra Madre.

The responsibilities of the Commission on the Aging include the following:

  1. To provide an effective vehicle for the welfare and well-being for the senior citizens in the community;
  2. Locating and publicizing available resources;
  3. Coordinating and initiating services and opportunities for seniors;
  4. Informing the community of problems and suggesting how persons can participate in creating solutions to those problems.

The commission normally meets on the first Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber. The week before the commission meeting, commission members will receive a packet of the agenda items and the minutes of the previous meeting.

The Recreation Director is responsible for staffing the Commission on the Aging and has designated the Community Services Coordinator as the principal support person.
