From HEYSOCAL: "Meet Roderick Armalin, chief of police for the City of Sierra Madre. While growing up in Los Angeles, he encountered a police officer that had a positive influence on him. This encounter lead to a 32-year career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After retiring, he was introduced to an opportunity in the City of Sierra Madre as police chief.  There was no question in Chief Armalin’s mind that community outreach was needed. His involvement in the community served him well. Recollecting a poignant moment with a little girl named Molly who feared him because of his uniform, he explains the lengths he went to gain her trust. The encounter birthed “Molly’s Day.” As he tells his fellow officers, 'Open your eyes and open your heart when you encounter people.'"
