Streets

The City of Sierra Madre's streets and sidewalks are maintained by the Street Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. The Department strives to maintain the City's streets and sidewalks by providing fast and reliable service to its residents. The Street Maintenance Division continues to improve and maintain the streets through the City's ongoing street rehabilitation project.

The City also provides a Sidewalk Improvement Partnership Program.

Due to budget limitations, the sidewalk repair material was replaced from concrete to asphalt. The asphalt is considered temporary and unsightly.

In 2010, The Sierra Madre City Council approved this pilot program to allow residents to share in the cost of sidewalk installation, repair or replacement. In this program, the property owner covers the cost of the concrete and other replacement materials while the city covers the cost of the labor and equipment needed to perform the task (demolish and haul off existing sidewalk, trim tree roots, and construction of new sidewalk).

This partnership is the City's solution to the need for sidewalk repair, the desire for aesthetically pleasing sidewalks, and the limited budget available for the materials to make necessary repairs.

Residents who are interested in this program should contact the Public Works Department at 626-355-7135.
